Infiltration/Inflow and Sewer System
Evaluation Studies Carmel Sewer District No. 4
Carmel, NY

These studies involved the investigation and evaluation of 22,000+ feet of sanitary sewers tributary to the Carmel Sewer District #4 Wastewater Treatment Plant. Project scope included manhole inspection, flow monitoring, television inspection and smoke testing.

The Infiltration/Inflow and Sewer System Evaluation Studies phases of this project were presented in a single report to the client, along with appropriate recommendations for the remediation of excessive infiltration/inflow. Contract plans and specifications included provisions for chemical and physical root removal, chemical grouting, manhole repairs, and post-remedial television inspection to ensure completeness of the remedial action.

Upon completion of these cost-effective measures, infiltration/inflow was significantly reduced. Operations and maintenance of the collection system was improved and excessive flow to the plant was eliminated.
