Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

JRFA was retained by the Bedford Central School District to provide facility planning and detailed design for the Fox Lane Campus Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project involved complete upgrade of the existing 0.020 mgd wastewater treatment plant. The facility was designed to meet strict permit limits and included primary, secondary (biological) and tertiary (sand filtration) treatment in addition to microfiltration, phosphorous removal, disinfection, solids handling and telemetering. Under the NYCDEP WWTP Upgrade Program, the treatment system was required to meet strict limits for giardia cyst removal, removal/inactivation of viruses, design and phosphorous removal. JRFA conducted a flow and sampling study to evaluate existing flows and loads and impact of microfiltration on existing treatment systems. Specifications included detailed description of the requirements for maintenance of plant operations during construction.
