Stormwater Benefit Program
Village of Brewster - Putnam County, NY
The Village of Brewster is located in the Diverting Reservoir drainage basin. The Diverting Reservoir is a part of the Croton Reservoirs System, a potable water supply for the New York City and has been placed on the New York State Clean Water Act biennial 303d list. New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) performed a study, which displayed that the runoff from the Village of Brewster is a serious non-point source of pollution to the Diverting Reservoir. JRFA successfully assisted the Village to obtain a grant from NYCDEP to investigate stormwater quality and patterns and recommend remedial actions.
The scope of work included: Monitoring and Modeling Plan; Management Plan; stormwater sampling and flow monitoring; computer stormwater quality and quantity modeling for various rainfall frequencies using SWMM software; the Village of Brewster Best Management Practices and Stormwater Plan; design and construction supervision of a stormwater detention wetland, maintenance plan, post-construction sampling, and monitoring.
